Christie Marie Blatchford was a Canadian newspaper columnist, journalist and broadcaster. She was also Canada’s first female sports columnist, reporting on sports between 1975 and 1977.The world of journalism lost a giant, when Christie Blatchford lost her battle with lung cancer at the age of 68.

Yesterday, The Second Chance Foundation presented a cheque to the Ontario College of Art & Design University to establish a scholarship in honour of Christie Blatchford’s memory.

In attendance, were President of OCAD U – Ana Serrano, Newstalk 1010 Broadcaster – John Moore, Former Chairman of the Municipality of Metropolitan Toronto – Paul Godfrey, Radio Veteran – Mike Bendixen, Owner of Tom’s Place – Tom Mihalik, President of The Children’s Breakfast Clubs and The Second Chance Foundation – Rick Gosling and OCAD Creative Writing Program Chair – Catherine Black.
