Initial Challenges

Firstly, it is important to familiarise ourselves with the hurdles these confined adults go through. A lot of them are part of socio-economic and cultural factors with a strong shift towards technological advancements and drug addiction. Thus, falling into different sorts of unethical activities like crime, robbery, etc. Their lives turn worse after being captive, rendering them into a vicious cycle.

The Power of Education

•An opportunity for self-growth

Obtaining education doesn’t specifically need to be restricted to getting good grades or just completing courses. Rather, it also leads them to the road of self-growth and development. By seeking education, they open themselves up to essential life skills like problem-solving, societal norms, and ethics, which all are paramount in leading a life after being free from the shackles of prison.

•Gaining Self Confidence

Building up confidence is indeed a strong requisite to lead a happy life. For many, captivated adults’ confidence would come on its own as they start to master new skills and reach new heights in their academic accomplishments. This shall ultimately lead to a smooth transition back to the society. Thus, making their lives a lot easier and better in terms of overall character development.

•Better Career Opportunities

Undoubtedly, education opens the mind of an individual and brings up a pool of opportunities to excel in a stable career. Even for these bunch of imprisoned adults, their lives can be transformed to build a successful career after release provided, they are given a fair chance to gain relevant skills and expertise in their respective fields. Easy access to skilled courses and certifications can help make a difference in the lives of these victims.

•Reduced chances of stepping back

Education is not only helpful in transforming their lives but can also help to reduce the overall chances of falling back into that trap of unethical activities. Research conducted by the Mackinac Center for Public Policy suggests that participation in any form of educational program leads to a 14.8% decrease in the likelihood of recidivism. Thus, contributing to the overall development and upliftment of the society rather than being a burden.
